How did I end up in the mortgage business?
I was a week into college working part time in sales at AT&T, slowly moving up the corporate ladder; by fate I met a senior mortgage broker and started as an intern for a boutique mortgage brokerage on Union Street in San Francisco. A few days later and at 22 years old, I quit my job and school, started working as an intern while telemarketing for senior brokers and studying for my real estate license. After 21 years I never looked back and happy I choose this path, because the journey has been amazing.
What’s the best part of your job?
Calling my clients and letting them know that their loan has closed, especially when it is for the purchase of a new first home. Actively listening to questions and concerns, keeping the process as simple as possible even when the transaction can be challenging; having the opportunity to assist my clients in owning a small part of the Earth and receiving thanks is very rewarding!. Our dedicated team and combined mentorship with almost 100 years of lending experience enables accuracy and confidence in getting answers. Team work makes the dream work is so true, and this holds firm with both my coworkers, and my clients.
How’d you end up in Portland?
I moved here from California in 2006 because my father was already living up here. I was also drawn to the beauty of the PNW and while I am not a fan of the rain, having the nation’s best summer days/nights is a great recharge coming out of a long winter. An avid snowboarder in the winter and wakeboarder in the summer, Portland makes a great fit for both.
What’s your favorite day look like?
Heading out to the Columbia River in the summer with my wife and two children to soak up the sun, with fun on the beach and wakeboarding. Then watching a great sunset with a glass of wine or beer depending on the day, and going back to town for a great dinner that features some live music.
What would you do if you weren’t in the mortgage business?
If I was not in the mortgage business, I would love to own a small 25-unit hotel in Big Bear CA (where I lived during much of my youth), providing a five-star experience for a three-star price, and getting to meet new people every day. Close by I would like to operate a non-kill shelter for dogs (especially bully breeds) which would be called “Petie Place”, after my Pit-Mix I rescued years ago.

100% recommend working with Brian
Thank you Brian! Huge shout out to Brian for all his hard work. My husband and I bought our first home and it was definitely a process. Thankfully, Brian was there every step of the way to help us through getting our loan approved, working after hours and answering every question we had. Our journey for a new home, definitely had many bumps along the road and we will forever be grateful for all the hard work and support that Brian gave us. It seemed like we weren’t ever going to make it to the signing table but Brian made sure it happened. He told us at the beginning that he would do everything he could to ensure we got the best interest rate possible and that’s exactly what he did. I’m not sure how he did it, but he really pulled through on his word even with our few months of being in the process of buying a home.
There were a few times where my husband and I felt like giving up because things just weren’t working out for one reason or another and Brian was always really supportive of our concerns and talked us through to help us make the best decision which ultimately led us to now having our dream home.
I have already recommended him to all our friends and family when they are ready to buy a home. Brian really went above and beyond for us and we look forward to continue to work with him in the future.

First time success
My first time home purchasing timeline was quick. It started on July 28th of 2023, my partner and I took the scenic route home and stumbled upon an open house. This was the catalyst. Within a week of looking, we found what we considered our “first home dream” and our agent put us in contact with Brian. This was around the 11th of August, we closed the 23rd. In less than 3 weeks we had purchased a home. He is such a fast and efficient worker, it feels like I blinked and was in a home. I understand that a speedy home process isn’t for everyone (especially first home buyers), but if you are like me, young and impatient, then Brian Williams is an unbelievable lender to work with. He answered all my questions, got us a better than expected rate, gave me some advice for future endeavors and was willing to make what is one of the biggest purchases you can make less stressful and scary. Brian, I truly appreciate everything you’ve done for us and we look forward to working with you to refinance when the time comes.
